Lincoln became President after Buchanan let the country fall apart so it was on Lincoln's shoulders to get the country back on its feet. Lincoln was a teriffic president he abolished slavery and led the country through the Civil War. Therefor I think he deserves the letter grade of an A+.

The biggest goal that Lincoln wanted to accomplish was to abolish slavery. He also led the country successfully through the Civil War. Lincoln successfully abolished slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation. The Proclamation abolished slavery for all the states that were not already controlled by the union. Once this was successfully passed by the Congress Lincoln moved on to get the 13th Amendment passed. Three years later on December 6, 1865 the 13th Amendment was finally passed. Lincoln also successfully got the country through the civil war. He appointed leaders that would get the job done and win victories for the North.

Lincoln got along well with the people in Congress. He elected three republicans to his cabinet that were all good quality for the job he appointed them to. Lincoln didn't have many disputes with Congress they agreed with him on most decision that he made. For one they all signed the 13th amendment which was a big controversy at that time. So for a majority of the people to agree that the country needed to get rid of slavery was saying something about how great their relationship was.

One of the most positive things that the Lincoln's administrative accomplished was passing the 13th amendment. This was a positive thing for the country even though parts of the country might not have thought so at the time. The passing of the 13th amendment led to many civil rights movements. It also made the south come up with a different product to produce because they were not allowed to use slaves anymore, which gave the economy a variety of products. The amendment also paved the way for blacks to enter politics.

I don't believe that Lincoln made bad decisions for the economy. The only decision that could be debated was his 10% plan because he accepted the south right back into the union. So pretty much the whole civil war seemed like it met nothing because he was just forgiving them back into the union without any punishments on their behalf.

The country was better off at the end of Lincoln's presidency. He abolished slavery and he led the country through one of the most difficult times it would experience as a whole nation. He was an honest man and he did things right for the country and he did them the right way. He really wanted the country to become better and give over the obstacle of slavery which was holding the country back.
